Hey hey, Darius here 👋🏼

For anyone who’s been looking to get a hold of Caleb Maru, I know where he’ll be later this week.

On Thursday, August 27th, Caleb is moderating a session with Lorcan O Cathain, CEO and co-founder at Lua AI, and Ankit Jindal, CTO at Turaco. They’ll be exposing how the best teams are actually running AI right now.

I’m no snitch; I just happened to see the unhealthy amount of people wanting a piece of him in the DMs.

Let’s dive into today’s roundup!

Tech Roundup

  • South Africa now has a manufacturing plant for IRIS, a locally developed humanoid AI tutor designed to support teachers and learners. Its developers say the project could create up to 20,000 jobs over five years.

Deal Roundup

  • Pouchers raised $500,000 to make it easier for Nigerians to move money across borders. The pre-seed round, led by Stack Directory, will support its stablecoin-powered payments, virtual dollar cards and global-to-local transfers.
