Tech Roundup
Kenya has published new regulations for virtual asset service providers, moving closer to a formal licensing regime for crypto businesses. The framework gives exchanges and other crypto firms a clearer path to operating legally in the country.

Village Capital has deployed $500,000 from its Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility into three Ghanaian startups: Built Financial Technologies, GrowForMe, and SAYeTECH. The funding is part of a broader effort to strengthen Ghana's startup ecosystem by backing overlooked early-stage founders.
Egyptian healthtech startup Reme-D has raised a $1.45 million pre-Series A round to expand its digital healthcare platform. The funding will support product development and growth as demand for tech-enabled care continues to rise.

Egyptian logistics startup Mylerz has raised a $2 million funding round to expand its last-mile delivery network and fulfillment services. The fresh capital comes as e-commerce logistics providers race to keep pace with rising online retail demand.
Botswana's first dedicated technology venture fund has reached a $6.7 million first close. The fund aims to back local startups while helping build a stronger early-stage investment ecosystem in the country.
Moroccan super app Ora Technologies has extended its series A funding to US$10 million after raising an additional US$2 million from local investors. The investment ranks among the country's largest startup funding rounds in recent years.
M-KOPA has secured a $30 million debt facility from Dutch development bank FMO to grow its mobility business. The financing will help put more electric motorcycles on African roads through the company's asset financing model.

Opportunities
VOVE ID has launched a programme to help African startups identify gaps in KYC, KYB, AML, and fraud controls before they slow fundraising, licensing, or market expansion. Applications for the first cohort close on August 20.
Founders Fund Africa has opened applications for its 2026 Creative Economy Accelerator, backing startups building across music, film and media, design, and creative tech. Selected founders will receive between $20,000 and $50,000 in funding, alongside hands-on support to help scale their businesses. Applications close August 28.
Applications are now open for the iDICE Startup Bridge Growth Lab. It’s a 12-week accelerator for young Nigerian founders between the ages of 18 and 35 who are post-MVP and have some traction. The program offers upfront equity funding of $100,000 for selected participants, plus hands-on scaling support. Apply here by August 19th.
The Milken-Motsepe Prize is offering $2 million in total prizes for African startups building tech-enabled circular economy solutions. Beyond a $1 million grand prize, finalists gain access to investors, mentors, and global industry leaders as they compete to scale businesses that turn waste into value.
